Earth-Building School, Workshops & Consultations
Upcoming Online Trainings (only intake for 2023)
23-31 January 2023We are facing a housing shortage and the costs of building are rising. Many of us also simply enjoy the concept of downsizing, living with less and using less resources. Small is beautiful, and there is a particular kind of satisfaction in designing (and then building) a small living space from local, natural materials.
We invite you to join us for this free online training, where we will cover all relevant design steps for both timber-earth hybrids, as well as full earth construction. It is run as a 5-day challenge, so that you can learn and implement in a community of like-minded people, with our professional support. You will walk away with a great first design for an earthen tiny house, a solid understanding how things are put together, and a realistic idea of how to make your tiny house dream come true! 5 February 2023Learn a wide range of natural building skills while fast-tracking your own projects. This live 3-month program is backed up by a year of mentorship, to support students all the way. This is our 4th live round and only intake for 2023.

Building with Earth
Earth is a building material that is at once traditional and modern. It is an amazing and beautiful material that can be used in many different ways. It has been utilized for the last 10,000 years and worldwide some of the oldest surviving structures are earth's legacy to building durability. UN Habitat still estimate 20% of the world’s population live in earth buildings.
In the past 20 years, earth has advanced to become a high-quality building material: Its aesthetic qualities along with its beneficial effect on indoor climate and general well-being are widely recognized. Of particular relevance are its environmental properties, for example the incomparably low carbon footprint and total recyclability. In the 21st century people are drawn to the environmental, sustainable and aesthetic qualities of earthen building materials. Most countries have a rich and diverse legacy of building in earth. Many different techniques have been developed traditionally and are now being modernized to ensure state-of-the-art workmanship and structural performance.
